At Harte & Craft, the safety, wellbeing, and fair treatment of our participants and customers is at the heart of everything we do.
Whether you join us at an after-school club, a children’s party, an adult workshop, a corporate team-building event, or purchase our craft kits and digital resources, you can trust that we work to the highest standards of safeguarding, safety, and professionalism.
Below you’ll find a summary of our key policies.

Safeguarding & Child Protection
- We are committed to protecting children and young people from harm.
- All staff are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.
- Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Emma Harte.
- At school clubs, concerns are reported to the school DSL.
- At parties or community sessions, concerns are referred to Harrow MASH or the police in urgent cases.
Lone Working
Many of our sessions are delivered by a single facilitator. Our Lone Working Policy ensures safe practice, including clear supervision arrangements, safe collection of children, and procedures for emergencies.
Health & Safety
- We are committed to providing safe, well-managed activities.
- All venues and activities are risk assessed.
- Materials are age-appropriate and non-toxic.
- A qualified Paediatric First Aider (St John Ambulance certified) is present at all children’s sessions.
- Accidents are recorded and shared with parents/carers.
- Fire exits and emergency procedures are checked before each session.
Data Protection & Privacy (GDPR)
- We handle all personal information in line with UK GDPR.
- We collect only what is needed (e.g. contact details, medical info, photo consent).
- Data is stored securely and never shared without consent unless legally required.
- Parents may withdraw photography consent at any time.
- Our online shop complies with UK GDPR and consumer rights law.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- Creativity is for everyone.
- We welcome children and adults from all backgrounds.
- We celebrate diversity and adapt activities for children with SEND wherever possible.
- Everyone is treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.
Behaviour & Anti-Bullying (Children’s Activities)
- Our clubs and workshops are safe, fun, and inclusive spaces.
- We encourage kindness, cooperation, and creativity.
- Bullying, harassment, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Persistent disruptive behaviour may result in exclusion without refund.
Complaints
- We value feedback and take concerns seriously.
- Complaints can be made verbally or in writing.
- We will acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and aim to resolve within 14 days.
- Safeguarding concerns are escalated immediately.
Online Safety
- For digital workshops and resources:
- Children must be supervised by a parent/carer.
- Only secure, approved platforms are used.
- No private contact is allowed between staff and children.
Photography & Media
- Photos/videos are only taken with parental consent.
- Images are stored securely and used only for approved purposes (e.g. website/social media).
- Parents can withdraw consent at any time.
Terms & Conditions
- Our Terms & Conditions cover bookings, payments, refunds, and behaviour for after-school clubs, parties, and workshops.
Online Shop Policy (Craft Kits & Digital Downloads)
- When purchasing through our shop:
- Craft kits are dispatched within X working days.
- Digital downloads are available immediately after payment.
- Refunds: 14 days for unused kits; downloads are non-refundable once accessed.
- Craft kits may contain small parts – adult supervision is recommended.
Whistleblowing
- Anyone (staff, parents, or participants) can raise concerns about unsafe or inappropriate behaviour.
- All concerns will be taken seriously and investigated.
- Whistleblowers are protected from retaliation.
